Not to be emotional, but..
On February 17th Things I Like turned a year old.
It’s been a whole year! I’m just as shocked as you are.
No, really. I’ve been in a state of shock all week. 27 newsletters! 27 newsletters in 52 weeks? That’s posting more than one newsletter every other week! That’s really something! That’s big! That’s real!
Again. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it hasn’t been easy. It’s actually been the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m still second-guessing myself every time I press send. I’m still struggling with how much to share and what the truth actually means. It still feels embarrassing to tell people I don’t know of TIL’s existence. And although I wrote 27 newsletters, it still sucks that there are people who don’t take this seriously. Or don’t take me seriously.
On the other hand, I could also tell you that TIL changed my life for the better. It gave me a creative outlet I desperately needed. Confidence in my thoughts, my voice, my opinions. The realization that I don’t need people to agree with me (but wow it’s nice when they do). A lot of laughs. A few teary moments. Something to look forward to. New friends. A million texts. The realization that the scariest things are the most rewarding and that the risk is worth it.
All that said, I still don’t know what I ~*want*~ from Things I Like, but I’m really excited to see what the next 27 sends will be.
So… thank you. Thank you if you read every one. Thank you if you didn’t even know you subscribed. Thank you if you have no idea how you got here. Thank you if you came from instagram and still need to subscribe. Thank you if you signed up and send it straight to the trash. Thank you if you only subscribe so you can talk shit about it in your group chats.
Ok. That’s enough emotion and honesty from me for the day. Let’s have some fun.
I love you & I like you. Thank you. <3
