Hi. I didn’t reread this. We’re live straight from the notes app.

Here’s a lot of things that I’ve liked recently and would like to talk about.
Team 10 (my first internet love) News. Alissa Violet and Tessa Brooks are friends again. I don’t like this, but I still want to talk about it. If you remember my unfinished deck about Alissa and Jake Paul’s cursed relationship from 2016/17 you’ll remember that Alissa and Tessa were frenemies until Tessa participated in the infamous diss track (still a bop). I’m not sure how or when or why sweet baby child Alissa welcomed Tessa back into her life, but after looking at her tiktok it looks like they are BEST BEST friends. While I don’t trust it, I’m happy if Alissa’s happy.
BFF Podcast. I also don’t want to talk about this, but… I’m in. I’m obsessed with the clips on tiktok, they make me laugh! And, yes, I know Dave Portnoy is bad! Briana and Josh are funny! They all have good banter! I love googling all the gen z influencers after! I love finally understanding the Bryce Hall/Addison Rae drama!!
WMS (Clear American). Living in New York means you have constant access to literally anything you could ever want, except a Walmart. Something I never thought about until I recently went to Dallas for my best friend’s baby shower and was introduced to the greatest love of my life, Clear American Seltzer, aka. Walmart Seltzer, aka. WMS. I can only explain it as Diet Coke for other flavors. Like it’s 100% chemicals but there is no added sugar or calories, just perfect bubbly syrupy full flavors. When asked to pick a favorite I couldn’t, each is unique and tells a story of a more simple time. They don’t currently ship to Brooklyn, so if anyone would like to drive me to Walmart (or Sam’s Club) to buy pallets of all the flavors, I’d appreciate it.
Wall Tapestries. If you have ever been to my apartment you will know it’s quite large. And my couch is quite low and relatively small, so my living room feels wide which has made finding art very difficult. I like a tasteful gallery wall but my living room already has a whole wall of bookshelves so adding any more chaos is out of the question. But every piece of art I have tried is just too small and it’s driving me crazy. Then I found this tiktok (did anyone else see the GIANT abstract Japanese watercolor landscape some tiktok girl painted? I can’t find it anywhere) that I really wanted to recreate, but I just don’t have the attention span. SO I’ve been looking into “wall murals” which are just wallpaper but more of a scene, not a pattern (I’m not a pattern person, sorry). I was really drawn to the ones that are more chinoiserie, but I didn’t love any of the colors and the quality looked poor. Which is how I found “wall tapestries,” and you might be like “wow, kel, how CU Boulder dorm of you” and I would respond oh just you wait. They’re not even cloth. Just a way for Anthropologie to print large format posters and charge $200 for them. I’m between this one and this one. Leaning towards the first one. Pls let me know which one you like more.
Maggie Rogers. I honestly have had to stop myself from listening to That’s Where I Am on repeat. It’s getting bad. I also caught myself listening to Overnight on repeat for over an hour the other day by accident. I don’t feel bad. Also, the JoniJamz conspiracy is everything to me.
WRM. We’re past 300 followers!!!! 300 AUTHENTIC, NON-BOT followers, to be clear. I think it might be because people think we were featured in this article, but it’s a great article and we will gladly accept the confusion.
Michael Cera. I want you to turn to whoever you’re sitting with and ask them how old they think Michael Cera is. Feel free to make your own guess. Then click here and find out how old he is. PLS text me about this.
Sudoku. Every few months I become obsessed with a new phone game. I’ve gone through Tiny Chef, the Kim K game, Klondike (the farm game), Two Dots, Phase 10, Hole.io, Wordscapes, Wordle/Quordle/Octordle, NYT mini crosswords, RIDDLE STONES, Lolo, Number Match (actually can’t talk about this one, I got into some drama with the developer), Zen Match, Candy Crush, etc. I can’t tell you how much I’ve spent on in-app purchases because I know it will make all of us uncomfortable. Anyways, I’m obsessed. I have probably played over 200 sudoku games in the past month. I can’t stop.
Granola. I have been alternating between pasta salad and dairy-free yogurt for every meal for like 3 weeks just so I can have granola. The best granola is from Wegmans. It’s their blueberry-flax seed and I highly recommend. If you’re looking for the best dairy-free yogurt I must recommend the incredibly expensive but very delicious, cocojune.
Dispo. I don’t even know if this is an app for gen z, or if they are using the app at all, but it’s how we’re taking pictures this summer people! Get used to it! I love not having to go to my intimidating local camera store to get my 8 rolls of film developed (content unknown).
Audrey Gelman’s Cottagecore Shop. I know it’s dumb. I know it’s a joke. I know everything is sold out. I am forever fascinated by this lil Marnie witch. Also, did ANYONE read the Lena Dunham Vogue article? ANYONE!??????
This unreleased Taylor song that I had never heard before. Maybe if she had put this on Speak Now I would have liked the album.
Benihana. Food excellence! Affordable! I’m dreaming of the surf and turf combo! Please tell me about your best Benihana experience. When we were there a few weeks ago we (everyone but me) saw Terrence Howard. I’ve also heard of people seeing Macaulay Culkin there, and catching between 7 and 9 shrimp pieces in their mouth (they don’t toss shrimp into your mouth anymore). Invite me to your hibachi party!
Pop Crave vs Pop Base. These are the only news sites I trust at this point. They are much more timely than both my TMZ and NYT push notifications. Unfortunately, when the pop culture wars begin you will have to choose one or the other. Who will you stand behind? Personally, I’m a Craver.
A note from Sylvia
(This has nothing to do with anything, but the circus ig posted a note from our color theory teacher and it made me feel a type of way. If you didn’t know her, she was incredibly wise and an inspiration for anyone who loves an unhinged email.)
Doors open and they close. Even graduation closed a door but it also opened many others. Cherish those wonderful friends you made at The Creative Circus and keep in touch.
Do you remember the first class in Intro when you decided if you were up to the task of becoming better than you were the day before? The struggle is the best part of learning. Continue to find the smile in the soul of your work. Believe you will. Good things take time and effort. Be particular. Create those new worlds.
Know that I do think of you and wonder about your lives. My email address remains the same.
Learn daily and forever. In retirement, I have experienced learning lessons from nature daily. Being able to sit still, listen, and observe, then, writing by hand because it reaches your brain better makes any morning better. Try it.
Know I care dearly and wish you many cheery discoveries, good health, love, wisdom and enough challenges to encourage growth.
Loving hugs, your teacher,
Syl
Things That Happened In Popular Culture Recently That You Should Know About
I’m not participating in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial. It actually makes me uncomfortable. Don’t text me about this!
My girl Paulina Gretzky got married to her longtime golf boyfriend and there were a bunch of influencers there and I can’t figure out their connection aside from being influencers.
Blac Chyna court drawings are art. The actual trial is terrifying and I will not be discussing it.
Ezra Miller is still wreaking havoc.
Elon bought twitter. This annoys me to no end. Will I quit the site? No. Will I keep complaining? Yes.
Mayor Eric has been eerily quiet, I wonder what he’s plotting.
It has come to my attention that not everyone knows about my favorite conspiracy theory, Lea Michele can’t read.
Lorde shushed the crowd at her Radio City concert, and as someone who also has mars in virgo, I get it. Also, Writer in the Dark is one of the best songs of all time. If I had known she was basically just performing Melodrama (my favorite album), I would have spent the $600 on tickets. Luckily she took Hard Feelings/Loveless off the setlist so I was less inclined to go.
What I’m Watching
I won’t lie, I have only watched 2 episodes of television in the past 2.5 weeks. Both episodes were of The Kardashians. I hope you’re watching.
I’m about to watch Selling Sunset. Stay tuned.
Some Things I Hate:
That Jack Harlow song. I know. I was so excited (because he’s hot), but the only good parts are the tiktok clip and when he rhymes Givenchy with Jesus.
People who sneeze on a plane. Please remove yourself.
Tech Neck Discourse. Help.
The new MacBooks are HUGE and HEAVY
The way these lyrics make me feel
Deux Moi
The ocean (different than the beach), we don’t know enough about it.
Having so many different spelling of palette, pallet, palate …
The Buffalo Bills Stadium drama. I really can’t talk about it. Don’t text me about this.
OK BYE TTYL. TEXT CALL TWEET. LYLAS. SRY I DIDN’T PROOFREAD IT AT ALL. LET GO AND LET GOD AS THEY SAY.
